Widows' Mite
Our Widows’ Mite group was started by Marty Willard as a support group for those who have experienced the loss of a spouse. The group is open to any widow inside or outside of our parish. Some are recent widows and some have been widows for a number of years.
We always have a devotion time with prayer. We also have a time of sharing for those who would like to share some of the challenges and the triumphs. The ladies are a great support to each other.
We are named the Widows’ Mite referring to the widow in the Bible who gave her last two coins (mites) to God. That story of the widow was told by Jesus to show that God is pleased with giving from the heart. The ladies have reached out to others in numerous ways.
Again this group is an open group. The ladies come from various areas – Gaines, Trout Run, Marsh Creek, Whitneyville, Coolidge Hollow, Morris, Liberty, etc. Our meetings are held at various area restaurants the second Thursday of the month.
